The genuinely quiet, cheapest weeks are April–May and October–November, when a fair number of hotels shut.
Getting around
The free ski bus loops the town every ten to fifteen minutes in season and stops near most hotels — worth checking yours is on the route, because the walk to the gondola in ski boots is genuinely unpleasant. The gondola queue is the real transport problem: it can swallow an hour on a peak morning, which is the strongest argument for sleeping close to the base station. Out of season the town is small enough to cross on foot in twenty minutes.
